Otaki Maori Land Court Minutebook - 6 November 1879.
- Description
Thursday 6th November 1879
Court opened at 10 am.
Present – the same
Kaingaraki – continued
Ururoa Ripia
I wish Hema Te Ao to say what we did yesterday.
Hema Te Ao then stated that Hapita’s claim pointed the portion cultivated by Ururoa. His house and cultivations and peach trees adjacent were pointed out and also those of Arama Karaka’s father.
Ngawiki was not present but Kipa was. I asked him, where her cultivations were and he said there were none. He only referred to the ancient mana of Whatanui. I believe he represented Heni Kpa and Ngawiki and she is being placed on the land simply through love for her by Ururoa.
