| 14 March | I put the rest of the afternoon in at Mackenzies dentist's when he finished covering my tooth I went thru about 2hrs of agony!! As it was raining Jen decided to come home in Beadley's coach which she did about 7 o'clock |

| 21 Mar.(Wed) | Beautiful day so we decided to take the day off. I droveJen & Baby (Enid) out to see Mrs Kebbell at Ohau. Had a very enjoyable day arriving home 6 o'clock. |

| 20 Apl (Fri) | Terrible earthquake in San Francisco. Tremendous fatalities. Jen & Will (Billy) upset & anxious about Jessie (Mrs Taylor) |
| 25 Apl (Wed) | Evening Jen suddenly became ill. I asked Ward to go down for Dr Kennedy which he kindly did when Dr arrived Jen very much better (a dose of brandy having revived her) Dr could not do much - ordered her to stay in bed & rest. I think she is very much run down, nervous about San Francisco disaster. |

| 12 June | News arrived that Mr Seddon P.M. of NZ had died on the voyage over from Sydney. News caused great consternation. |
| 21 June | Funeral of R.J. Seddon, PM of NZ. Tremendous crowd from all parts of the colony attended. Went to see flowers & wreaths in lobby of House. Laurie & I went to funeral first on Lambton Quay, then to cemetery. Managed to get close to grave. |
| 4July | Govt. Valuer viewed farm from top of Lower Hill, was well pleased with the property. Reckoned I could get loan of £3430, as I only wanted £3500 he said he would recommend full amt. Estimated property worth £5716 or £3-12-0 per ac. |

| 26 Nov.(Mon) | Evening I went to Adkins Land Sale Winchester Block. Good attendance. W.H. Denton bought Sect. 1 & 2 in Queen St. for £80 & £70. W.H. Wilson bought rest of Queen St. frontage 4 sections at £57-10-0 each. Will O. also bought another section for £45 |
