Succession Claim
Hare Rewiti Rongorongo appeared to ask that his claim to succeed might be heard.
On enquiry it appeared that he could not produce crown grant nor prove death of grantee. It was explained to him what evidence would be required and he on request of claimant it was ordered that the claim should be adjourned to a future sitting.
Tapa Te Whata appeared to ask leave to withdraw claim in case of Oroua 69/699 put in letter giving reasons.

At request of Tapa Te Whata who appeared for claimants, this case was allowed to be withdrawn.

Hare Hemi Taharape – Sworn.
Of Otaki of Te Mateawa. Tiemi Ranapiri is a ‘tamaiti keke’ of mine. I know Te Hiwi Piahana. I know the land shown on the sketch. I was present at the survey of this land. The south side belonged to the wife of Tiemi Ranapiri. The north side belonged to Te Hiwi. It now belongs to Tiemi Ranapiri. It was bought by him from Te Hiwi. He gave him £15 for it. I saw the transaction. I heard the agreement made. It was in Tiemi’s house at Te Whakahoki and the money was paid there. I saw it and heard Te Hiwi say to Tiemi “mau te whenua”. Te Hiwi is a ‘tamaiti maku’ his father Piahana is my ‘tuakana’.
Objectors challenged – None appeared.
Tiemi Ranapiri – recalled
I desire the grant to be unrestricted.
Interlocutory order in favor of Tiemi Ranapiri (half caste) and Riria Ranapiri (Aboriginal native).
A8 – r0 – p6 at Otaki Waerenga Nos. 4 and 5. If proper survey furnished within 3 months. Boundaries as in sketch map before court.
Judge to report not proper to restrict alienability.
