Typed on paper glued to back: “Hokio Beach 19. From information given to Miss Picken, the coach accommodation house was on the north side of Hokio Road near the intersection of Hunua Road. Between the four power poles, Rod McDonald in ‘Te Hekenga’ wrote that a small hill arose by the Hokio Stream & the accommodation house was at the base of the hill. (Photo by Miss Picken 1977 : Librarian 1965 onwards).”

The western view of Hokio Beach School at Hokio Beach Township in 1977. Information on reverse of photograph gives this as the site of the accomodation house run by Hector McDonald Snr, and his wife, Agnes.
