Inscription on reverse of photograph reads:- “Mary Burling Age 66 13 May 1909. Original photographer B H Jefferies Upper Hutt Mrs Jarrett.”

Mary Burling aged 66 in 1909. This European woman is wearing a dress with a high neckline and long sleeves which are tight between the elbow and the wrist. A wide belt with an ornamental buckle is at her waist and a brooch fastens the neck of her dress.

Any use of this image must be accompanied by the credit “Horowhenua Historical Society Inc.”
