Written on back with blue ballpoint pen: “Miss Bowen front centre. Her house now facing No 2 Karaka Crescent, somewhat altered.”

Written on back with black ballpoint pen: “House built late 1905, ref. tender notice in ‘Manawatu farmer’ at A. Turnbull Library. (refer Historic houses files at Horowhenua D. Council).”

A group of Levin women with Miss Bowen. Amongst the group are Mrs Flora MacDonald (Back row far right), and in the front row, from left to right, unknown, Mrs Richard Prouse, Miss Bowen, Mrs Lett (Clark) and Mrs Burdekin. This is possibly the occasion of an entertainment for Miss Bowen by the Women’s Society of Levin & District on 22 Sept 1948.
