Plimmer Terrace, Shannon. The street has been decorated with flags and bunting for opening of the Mangahao Power Station (Monday 3rd November 1924) by Prime Minister W.F. “Bill” Massey. The road is unpaved and there are several cars parked on both sides.

A close view of central part of the original home of Nga Tawa School for Girls at the Waring-Taylor property in Kingston Road, Shannon. The school was established by Miss Mary Taylor in 1891 and relocated in Crofton Road, Marton in 1906. It is now situated in Calico Line, Marton. This photograph was taken some years after the school had moved to Marton.

A machine designed for the harvesting of potato crop into large wooden bins has four men working on it. The person to the left is Don Richfield, the unidentified person behind him is obscured, facing the camera is Melryn Eveleigh and Ross Sinclair has his back to the camera.
