Succession claims

Hoani Meihana applied to have certain succession claims adjourned to Palmerston viz –

Aorangi, Awahuri, Whenuarahui

Section 343 Camaroon, Ruahine, Rangitikei Manawatu B, Kawakawa, Pukehou and three others of Enereta

Hoani Taipua also applied to have Manawatu Kukutauaki No. 2D adjourned there.

Peete Aweawe applied to have Tuwhakatupu adjourned to Palmerston also Kairangi and Kairangi No. 11.

Henare applied to have Whakawehi also adjourned.

Mr Booth applied to have a succession claim called Section 6 Block 8 also adjourned.

I live at Otaki and claim to succeed Wi Rape. He is dead. He left no will and died 4th last August. He was lost in the bush. The whole tribe knows he is dead.

He was a Ngati Tahu and was a slave of my mothers. He was with us about 40 years. I was in authority over ---- ----- he had, this land belonged to us. It was only given to him for a time. It is only a small piece - the size of this room.

Mr Carkeek on being asked to under assistance with respect to identifying plans with list stated that Mr Williams Deputy Inspector of surveys did not seem inclined to avail himself of his services and his contract with government had ceased and having a contract for other work could not assist at the court unless paid for his time.

At the recommendation of Mr District Officer Booth Mr Carkeek was asked to remain and identify plans with notices most of the plans having no names.
