Typed on paper glued to back: “P. Bartholomew’s sawmill, 1906 [?], Ohau River valley area: By Makahika Stream, a little above its junction with the Ohau. Photographed by G.L. Adkin, 17/10/06. Adkin Collection, ATL 23325 1/4”
Added with blue ballpoint pen: “Just over Makahika Stream bridge on east side, Engine foundation concrete slab visible inside fence. Credit, Alexander Turnbull Library.”
1906 cannot be correct date, compare with – #.0329 where all buildings appear to be new. Whereas the buildings (including additions) appear to be in a state of decline.
Bartholomew’s sawmill, Makahika Valley, 1906. This is the same sawmill as shown in 2000.018.0329, however some buildings have been added to the site which do not appear in the previous picture.
