Stamped on back with blue ink – Horowhenua Historical Society….....

Pupils outside the main building of Levin School in Oxford Street post 1903. The wooden building with an iron roof and five brick chimneys faces east, and although a flagpole has been erected at the front of the school, the playground is unsealed with large rocks clearly visable.

Mrs R Fitzherbert and her daughter Miss M Fitzherbert standing at the rear of their pupils, on the porch of the school. Twenty one of the twenty three pupils are girls with only two boys in the photograph.

Norwood School, Queen St., Levin, 1904

Mrs R Fitzherbert and her daughter Miss M Fitzherbert stand on the porch at the at the rear of this group of pupils from the Norwood School, Queen Street, Levin, 1904. Twenty-one of the twenty three pupils are girls with only two boys appearing in this photograph. The school was on the site of today’s ‘Village Green’ (2001) and was also known as Mrs Fitzherbert’s School.

Koputaroa School group, 1900 outside school building. To the right is the schoolmaster, and the schoolmistresses (two) are standing at the rear on the left. There are 52 students in the photograph and those in the front row are sittilg on a stoney playground.

Inscription on reverse reads “1903”

The main block at Levin School on the western side of Oxford Street looking south, 1903. The wooden building has an iron roof and 5 brick chimneys rise above the roofline. The playground area is unsealed and large rocks are clearly visable. The students in this photograph are in the main separated with boys to the left and girls to the right.
