1) Faith was spur to the pioneer settlers.
Spiritual life has kept in step with material advancement of the town. Matching their will to work was the pioneers devotion to their faith and their ambition to speedily build permanent places of worship. In this way the spiritual development of the town kept pace with its material progress.
2) Methodist.
The celebration of the diamond jubilee of Levin's Methodist Church was an occasion on which members not only observed with justifiable pride the achievement of the years, but also reviewed with thanksgiving the work of the early Methodist community.
3) Levin Baptist.
The Levin Baptist Church was formed in February, 1950, with an initial membership of 25 and the meeting place was the Oddfellows' Hall. A Sunday school was commenced at the same time and ten children attended on the first Sunday.
4) Presbyterian.
The opening of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church on November 23, 1902, was the culmination of some years of effort and sacrifice on the part of the local Presbyterians. The first move towards such an event stretched back into the early days of Levin's history.
5) Roman Catholic.
Prior to 1920 the Levin district was part of the parish of Otaki and was in the care of priests engaged in the missionary work among the Maori people.
6) Church of Christ.
The first group which formed the Church of Christ in Levin began meeting for the breaking of bread every Lord's Day in the home of Mr. I. James, Mako Mako Road. Mr. James and Mrs. Margaret Hall, with their families were the first faithful and staunch members. Since then members of these families and relatives have continued the work in this area, although many other families were brought in through their witness.
