Libraries Horowhenua outreach to the Levin Baptist Adult Day Centre

Members of the Adult Day Centre enjoys the 'Archive Explorer', a unique and interactive way to engage with Kete Horowhenua. The Archive Explorer was made by Storybox and uses their unique 'This or That' computer programme.

Library and Heritage outreach in the community - Wednesday 24 August 2022.

Kiri Pepene (Information Research and Local History Librarian), Jennifer Walton (Services to Older Adults Librarian) & Leala Faleseuga (Digital Inclusion Coordinator) visited the Levin Baptist Church's Adult Day Centre, bringing parts of the library out to our community. This outreach visit had a Heritage focus, local newspapers from the 1960s, old photos, elements of the 'Timber, Flax, Flour: The History of Mills in the Horowhenua' exhibition, and the brand new 'Archive Explorer' for the members of the Adult Day Centre to enjoy and use.

A review of the Kete Project

Kete Horowhenua is a community built digital library of arts, cultural and heritage resources. It aims to get the private collections, memories and knowledge of our community sitting alongside our public collections. This article includes material presented at the Bridging Worlds Conference in Singapore, 16-17 October 2008.

The Kete Project

Kete Horowhenua is a knowledge basket of images, audio, video and documents which are collected and catalogued by the community. The core code will be released as Kete V. 1.0 so that other communities can build their own Kete.
