Kete Horowhenua was launched nationally at Levin Library on 30th June 2007, 4pm.

The launch commenced with a welcome by George Sue, Chair of the Kete Horowhenua Sub Committee of Horowhenua Library Trust.

The Project was officially declared launched by Darren Hughes, and symbolized through the unpacking of an old suitcase containing arts, cultural, genealogical and heritage items.

Speakers were:

  • Sharon Crosbie - Chair, Horowhenua Library Trust
  • Brendan Duffy - Mayor, Horowhenua District
  • Penny Carnaby - National Librarian
  • Darren Hughes - MP, Otaki.
Refreshments were served throughout, and guests were invited to visit 6 displays, each one promoting a specific facet of the Kete database.

The afternoon launch was followed by a dinner at Murrayfields for invited guests and partners.
