Foxton Family Hotel

Inscription on reverse of mounted photograph reads: “Lent by Mrs Kirkcaldie. nee Marjorie Kebbel daughter of John Kebbell. Now given. Cook’s Family Hotel now known as the Foxton but of course re-built.”

Foxton Family Hotel, formerly the home of Thomas U Cook, in Gray Street, prior to 1892 when the building was demolished and a new hotel of the same name was opened on the present site in Main Street.

Main Street, Foxton 1906-7

Inscription on reverse reads: “8.9.08 To The F- P- Thanks for the P C It is no use telling me to tell ab. anything, you should have sent it to his girl not me. N says if she gets a letter written tonight it will be a struggle. Good night M K “

Hatcham Cottage

Inscription on reverse reads: “This is a photograph of my grandfather’s, Theopholes Easton, home (Hatcham Cottage) built by him in Howan Street – Foxton about 1870. It is still in a wonderful state of preservation and is recorded in the Historical Places Trust in Auckland along with the specifications of the interior. Charles Edward Peterson 18/8/81.”
