STATUTORY MEETING OF THE LEVIN BOROUGH COUNCIL TO AMEND THE DISTRICT ELECTORS’ LIST WAS HELD ON WEDNESDAY 25TH MARCH 1908 AT 8 O’CLOCK
Attendance
Present: Mayor B.R. Gardener
Councillors: Douglas, Hall, Hankins, Hudson, Levy, MacKenzie, Prouse, Ryder and Williams
Elections List becomes Elections Roll
The Mayor stated the object of the meeting and presented the District Elector’s List as prepared by the Town Clerk. He moved “That the roll as amended be approved.” This was seconded by Cr. MacKenzie and on being put to the meeting was declared carried.
General business taken – Minutes Confirmed
On the motion of Cr. MacKenzie seconded by the Mayor it was resolved to proceed with ordinary business and the minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed.
Correspondence
Correspondence was received from Dr. Frengly, I.W. Blackman, Hon. County Clerk. Hudson & Marriott Ltd and Sec. C. Aid Board, but no action was taken.
Charitable Aid
The report of the Charitable Aid Committee was considered. The Council went into Committee to discuss the report and on resuming on the motion of Cr, Prouse, seconded by Cr. Levy the Committee’s report was adopted.
Bank A/C & Rates
The Treasurer stated that there was a credit balance in the District Fund Account of £ , and that outstanding rates amounted to about £65.
Tender for Metalling Stuckey & Durham Streets Accepted
The Council went into committee to consider tenders for metalling Durham and Stuckey Streets. On resuming it was reported that three tenders had been received and on the motion of Cr. Hankins, seconded by Cr. Ryder the lowest tender that of Mr Aikensen at 2/6 and 2/8 per c. yard was accepted.
Maps for 5/- ea
Cr. Williams moved and Cr. Hall seconded “That the maps of the Borough being now completed, they be advertised for sale at 5/- per map”.
To Suspend Standing Orders
Cr. Hankins moved and Cr. Ryder seconded “That the standing orders be suspended in order to discuss the question of the proposed street extension in Setters’ Block”. Lost
To buy land for a road
The Mayor moved and Cr. Ryder seconded “That this Council undertake from Mr Barnett the proposed area (in Section 3) for the purpose of a road, 4½ chains by 1 chain, for a sum not exceeding £50.” Lost
Notice of Motion
Notice of Motion by the Mayor “That the motion passed re sub-division of Setters Block at the last meeting of the Council be rescinded”.
