Inscriptions on reverse read: “The Mangahao River behind Shannon near site of Surveyor’s camp Hydro electric project. Very dry summer river very low. Dec 1916.” and “Donated Mrs Jordan”

An unidentified woman who is wearing a large sun bonnet is sitting on rocks beside the Mangahao River behind Shannon. Native bush reaches down to the banks of the river.
