An attempted murder charge has been laid after a man was shot in the jaw in Levin on Tuesday afternoon.
The man, 35, was inside a sub-urban house when two cars carrying several people drove up and a con-frontation took place on the front lawn and shots were fired.
A Levin man, 25, was arrested earlier yesterday for assault with a weapon and demanding with menaces — charges' unconnected to the shooting. But a police spokeswoman said last night that he had now been charged with attempted murder and aggravated robbery in relation to the shooting. He has been remanded in custody.
Senior Sergeant Rob Duindam, of Levin, said earlier yesterday that the event which led to the first two charges appeared to be related to the shooting.
The case was not gang-related, he said.
