Levin Country and Music Variety Club

Levin Country and Music Variety Club was formed in 2001 by Mr. Tip Tekira and his wife, Win. Tip plays lead guitar.
Tip was first introduced to Country music by his friends (Roy and Carolyn Baylis) in Hawera 1989. Club being 2ZH Country Music Club.
In 1996 working for Fulton Hogan was transfered to Taihape, once again got involved with Taihape Country music Club and Ohingaiti Country music Club.
1998 transferred to Levin and played lead guitarist for Delta Country Music club until 2011.
2001 Started Levin Country Music and Variety Club at the Levin RSA Club rooms.Tip says it' been a good trip with Country Music Clubs areas and is still helping out four other clubs as lead guitarist.

Shane Harvey originally from Raetihi now living in Foxton. Has been playing music with his friends for
the last twenty years. Is married to Cheryl as has
six daughters. They love their music.

Gary Lucre Guitarist

Gary has been the guitar for many years. He has played in many bands, toured with Howard Morrison, Tui Teka, Eddie Low, Jodie Vaughn, Coasters, Drifters, Ray Wolf, Dennis Marsh, Ink Spots, Billy T James and backed so many artists and is a member of so many clubs, including NZ Jazz Society. Started a musical career in the early sixties with a band called " ABRAXAS" at the Mayfair in Hastings, took on a music teachers job at the secondary schools in 1979 but remained playing music in a variety of bands. Retired from teaching in 2010 and now having a life of leisure.

Barry first sarted playing music at the age of eight,
First instrument was the harmonica
At the age of fourteen 1953, started to play the Clarinet in local bands.
At the age of twenty, joined a well known Lower Hutt band, " The Hilites ", followed by membership of " chapter 5 " dance band.
At the age of thirty joined the " Bill Neville " dance band from Otaki. played at local hotels, RSA clubs and private functions for the next ten years.
After a twenty year break met up with an old friend, "Dick Thomas", from when they played at the Maxicale Night Club.
In 2001 joined Foxton Delta Country Music Band, playing and backing local musicians.
Has also played a support role with local bands, Blue Highway, Tri-2 and Freelance.
Currently playing with," Delta Bands"," Misfits", "Kapiti Jazz" and "The May Holiday Variety Band"
Barry plays : Harmonica, Clarinet, Saxphones ( Alto, Tenor, and Soprano). Sings Vocals.

93 year old Irene Thompson, Patron of levin Club since year 2000, Irene came from invercargill, lived in Masterton, now in Levin. Has four children.Just loves Country and Western music.
