Stamped below photo, on mounting board with purple ink: “H. Wellman, photographer.”

Penciled on back: ” Butchers shop, Oroua Downs. Donated by Mrs McGrail, Cambridge St., Levin. Her former husband was Shailer. Had butchers shop at Oroua Downs. Ancestor was Colonel Bluet, Maori wars. F.C.S.”

Bulliman Bros. Family Butcher’s shop, Oroua Downs. Staff from the shop are outside the shop with many on horseback. two horse drawn carts appear to be used for delivery purposes in addition to a mounted rider who has a cane basket on his arm. There is a wide footpath outside the shop and the road is constructed of large stones.
