Inscription onreverse reads: “Monrad Homestead and Karere Lagoon about 1880”

Monrad’s homestead at Karere lagoon near Palmerston North. The two storied wooden building with a verandah along the front, is set amongst both native and exotic trees. On the water in front of the house a woman and two children are seated in a waka.
