Captain and Mrs Robinson

Inscription on reverse reads: “Capt Francis Robinson and his wife Ellen (nee Cummerfield). Pioneer settlers of the Manawatu. Capt. Robinson took up a cattle run on the right bank of the river (between the Borough of Foxton abd present Foxton Beach settlement) about 1845. He died in 1888 and his wife in 1910.”

Monrad's Homestead

Monrad’s homestead at Karere lagoon near Palmerston North. The two storied wooden building with a verandah along the front, is set amongst both native and exotic trees. On the water in front of the house a woman and two children are seated in a waka.
