Also penciled on back: “St Marys (Anglican Church) Built for 300 pound, completed 1897, consecrated in 1899. It originally had a complete spire but the top was blown off in a storm & replaced by a more compact belfry (probably about end of 1910’s).”
Written with black ballpoint pen on piece of paper attached to photo: “Anglican Church. Steeple shortened after wind damage to original high steeple, probably after 1918 as Church Hall exists and street tree is well grown.”
St Mary’s Anglican Church, corner of Cambridge and Manchester Streets, Levin. The steeple has been shortened due to wind damage (see 2000.502.0001).
