- Description
Dean & Rawson empty cordial/soft drink bottle (with marble)
Small thick walled heavy clear glass bottle with ‘pinched’ neck 1/3 from top to keep glass marble from falling to bottom. Date of manufacture and use unknown.
Wording moulded into bottle: DEAN & RAWSON on opposite side - DEVON STREET Cannington Shaw & Co Ld WORKS MAKERS LEVIN St Helens, England
on bottom - 9962 U. G. B.At ‘pinch’ in neck of bottle, a slot has been cut so small coins can be inserted, turning the bottle into a money box. Slot is just large enough for 5 cent coin to fit through, but top of bottle is too small for 5 cent coin to pass, this has been demonstrated with a 5 cent coin (dated 1975) that is in the bottle. {It is unknown when the coin was inserted or by whom}
