8 Staff members from Walls Bakery, Foxton pose for this photograph with their wares and their horses in this sepia toned mounted photograph. Four of the men are dressed for work in the bakery with long white arpons covering their clothes. Three of the men are sitting on horse-drawn gigs. They are wearing vests, trousers, shirtsleeves and straw hats. Beside them in wicker baskets are loaves of bread. To the right of the photograph stands a man dressed in a vest, trousers, shirtsleeves and a bowler hat. The names of some of the men in the photograph are inscribed on the reverse.

Walls Bakery

Inscribed on reverse faintly: ” E McLeod Front of original bakery John Walls, Jane Walls, George, Agnes”.

Sepia toned mounted photograph of the front of Walls Bakery, with members of the Walls family and some other unidentified persons. The building is made of slab timber with a half verandah with an iron roof, and large display windows cover the front of the shop, with a smaller sash window set into the wall on the right. Wall family members stand to the far left and are identified as John Walls, Jane Walls, George and Agnes. The man leaning against the verandah post, the man mounted on horseback with a basket of bread on his left arm and the two youths to the right of the photograph are all unidentified persons.
