Sheep at McDonald farm "Lakeside"

Inscribed on back:- “Sheep at Lakeside’.” and “View looking due east from ridge just west of Moutere Rd just south of bridge over Hokio Stream.”

This early 1900s photograph shows the Commercial and Farmers Club building on the eastern side of Oxford Street north of the Oxford Street Intersection. The Post Office is south of the intersection and in Queen Street a horse and trap are approching the intersection. Two women dressed in white blouses and dark skits with two children and a man are outside a verandahed shop. The centre of the intersection is marked by a gas standard lamp.

Mrs Lett and Unidentified Man

Mrs Lett, dressed in a light coloured dress with multiple buttons at the front and white lace at the neck, over which is a black jacket, which has a floral spray attached to the right lapel and a ribbon inscribed “Patroness”, which is attached to the left lapel. She is also wearing a dark hat decorated with artificial roses and netting. To her left is an unidentified man who is lighting a candle on a cake. He is dressed in a white shirt, white jumper and white trousers, with a dark coat which has an RSA badge on the left lapel. Copy of photograph 1979.127.0053.

Mrs Lett 'sends down a bowl' at bowling club

Inscription on reverse reads: “Mr W G Clark on far right, next to him Mrs Edith Clark.”

Mrs Lett, dressed in a light dress with a white blouse fastened with a cameo brooch underneath, over which she is wearing a black jacket with a small brooch on the right lapel, and a black hat with a light coloured bow in the centre front, sends down a bowl while standing on a large mat. To Mrs Lett’s left is an unidentified balding man who is dressed in bowling ‘whites” and a dark blazer with a number of badges on the left lapel, and is holding a handbag (possibly Mrs Lett’s). To his left is Mrs Edith Clark, daughter-in-law of Mrs lett, dressed in a light coloured two piece outfit and a hat with a small brim. To her right is Mr W G Clark, eldest son of Mrs Lett, who is dressed in bowling “whites” and a dark blazer with an RSA monogram on the pocket. A number of men and women in bowling clothing watch in the background.

Spreading the Fibre in Paddocks Opposite the Racecourse

Inscriptions on reverse read: “16 Flax. Return to Foxton Historical Society P O Box 7, Foxton.”

An unidentified worker spreads hanks of fibre in drying paddocks opposite racecourse in Foxton. The hanks of fibre are spread flat on the ground in the foreground, while in the background flax fibre is hanging over wire fences in another part of the processing.
