Formal studio photograph. William (‘Bill’) Brown was a railway ganger based in Shannon.

They had 6 daughters then a son (Alistair). 7 names have been used as identification in connection with the girls of the Brown family: Annie, Gwen (later Graham), Girlie (later Urwin), Jeanne (never married), Billie, Eris (later Mouldey) youngest (?) daughter and Maisie (later Hebley).

Annie believed born January 1906 (see Certificate of Proficiency Acc.#s2002.098.0034 gives her age as 13 years 10 months in Novemeber 1919).

Kiri Pepene (Information Research and Local History Librarian), Jennifer Walton (Services to Older Adults Librarian) & Leala Faleseuga (Digital Inclusion Coordinator) visited the Levin Baptist Church's Adult Day Centre, bringing parts of the library out to our community. This outreach visit had a Heritage focus, local newspapers, old photos, elements of the 'Timber, Flax, Flour: The History of Mills in the Horowhenua' exhibition, and the brand new 'Archive Explorer' for the members of the Adult Day Centre to enjoy and use.

Members of the Adult Day Centre enjoys the 'Archive Explorer', a unique and interactive way to engage with Kete Horowhenua. The Archive Explorer was made by Storybox and uses their unique 'This or That' computer programme.
