Fireplace, Cheslyn Rise

HHS No. 9. Caption: “The home, comprising twenty rooms, had six fireplaces of which this one, in the dining room was typical”.

Fireplace in the dining room at ’ Cheslyn Rise’. The brick fireplace has a carved wooden surround and a wooden mantlepiece. Coloured tiles are at both sides of the fireplace and underneath the mantlepiece. Ornaments, photographs and a clock are sitting on the mantlepiece. Tongs and a shovel sit either side of the fireplace.

Penciled on back: “The Taieri Dining Rooms, 1913-1917. Tearooms run by Miss McKegg.”

Interior of Taieri Dining Rooms, (1913-1917) which was located on the western side of Oxford Street. The photograph shows white table cloths covering tables which are in front of a fireplace with a wooden surround. There are flowers on the tables, on the mantlepiece and in a pot on a stand beside the fireplace. In the centre of the mantlepiece is a picture , and there are two other pictures on the walls.
