Cherry picker machine disguised as a dragon. Hector Williams dressed as stone-age man with club walking with lead around the neck of the beast.

There are several cars parked on the grass on both sides of the street. Only one person visible (woman, right) watching the parade. Hills in the distant background appear to be beyond the Lake (looking west). The photo does not appear to have been taken in Oxford St. or Queen St.

4 women (unidentified) are seated on the float holding ribbons (symbolizing cables) from the mock large open-wheel generator in front of them. The ribbons lead up to words on the sign behind them - LIGHTING HEATING COOKING POWER Words written with flowers ? along the side of the float - Electricity – Your Servant.

There are several people on both sides of the street watching the parade. Also appear to be a couple (top centre) standing on the roof of a house. The photo does not appear to have been taken in Oxford St. or Queen St.

Levin Borough Golden Jubilee Photograph Album

Each photo to be scanned and catalogued separately.

The photograph album of the Jubilee features events and activities of the Jubilee, with a card insert giving the names of the Central Committee.

The Levin Borough Golden Jubilee Collection contains records, programmes, memorabilia, photographs and a scrapbook created by the Golden Jubilee Committee for the celebrations 3rd to 10th March 1956.

The records contain Jubilee Committee minutes, ephemera and memorabilia such as souvenir programmes, registration forms, tickets and pass cards, a song sheet, metal badges, a felt pendant, a balloon (not intact), and many different printed coloured ribbons for officials and attendees. There is also a large newspaper cuttings scrapbook, labelled on cover “A. H. Edwards, Secretary”.

There is also correspondence from Alfred J Edwards Jubilee Committee Secretary 29 July 1968 re donation of material to Town Clerk, and then 1980 correspondence about their deposit with the HHS. Note: The accession register refers only to photograph album, no other records.

Foxton Bandat D Grade Brass Band Competitions, 1956

Inscriptions on reverse read: “N Z Brass Bands Ass. Invercargill D Grade March 1956 1st in March 2nd in Hymn”. “See in Judges Remarks envelope” “Foxton Band Street March Invercargill W Wilkinson Conductor”

Foxton Band during the street march section of the D Grade Brass Band Competitions held in Invercargill in 1956. The band came second in the street march and first in the hymn competions of their grade. W Wilkinson was the conductor.

Original and one copy which is attached to a sheet of white paper with another photograph.
