1) Levin W.D.F.F. helped to buy fighter plane: work embraces many spheres.
The Levin Branch of the Woman's Division of Federated Farmers was formed on July 14, 1927, by Mrs. W. J. Polson, wife of the then president of the N.Z. Farmer's Union.
2) When pipe band was unit of Air Force.The distinction of being the official band of the R.N.Z.A.F. Station, Weraroa, fell to the Horowhenua Pipe Band during World War II. Bandsmen were made honorary members of the Air Force, were equipped with Air Force uniform and paraded every Thursday morning at 8 a.m. for Wing Parade. They also entered camp for the weekends. For the period it was known as the Levin R.N.Z.A.F. Highland Pipe band.
3) Scotty showed 'em!An early carnival held by the Levin Amateur Swimming Club billed the appearance of "Duke Kahanamaku". At the appointed time he appeared and did 25 yards in about 8 seconds- with the aid of a rope which pulled him to the end.
4) Society aims to preserve traditions of Scotland.Wherever there have been pioneers in New Zealand there have been Scotsmen. Wherever there have been Scotsmen there have been the skirl of the pipes and the swing of the kilt.
5) How Women's Business and Professional Club began.On July 26, 1951, through Mrs. C. Arens, a recent arrival in Levin, the Levin Business and Professional Women's Club was born.
6) Christian Temperance work for God, Home, Humanity.The Women's Christian Temperance Union is the outcome of a great temperance crusade that started in America in 1872. Miss Francis Willard, a brilliant writer and teacher, had a vision of what organised womanhood could do, so inaugurated the Women's Christian Temperance Union.
7) Levin Little Theatre Society is firmly established with fine prospects ahead.Triumph of the Levin Little Theatre Society was the opening of its own little theatre in Weraroa Road on November 2 of last year.
