HHS No. 8. Caption: “Cheslyn Rise looking east showing bushclad hills and felled trees. The blocks of land were balloted for in Palmerston North on Wednesday March 20 1889. 46 people wanted the favourite and most valuable block of land No. 42 (100 acres). W G Adkin was successful securing it for £2 per acre. He later secured adjoining blocks”.
