Inscription on reverse of first photograph reads: “The Sea Scouts ship at Foxton 1st December 1943. Commanded by Mr A Black Sea Scout Commissioner”.

Inscription on reverse of second photograph reads: “The Sea Rover” at Foxton. New Zealand. 1st Dec. 1943. Photo taken by F H Murray, Foxton, N.Z. Please return photos to F H Murray 7 Hillary Street Foxton.”

The Sea Scouts ship “Sea Rover”, commanded by A Black, moored at the Foxton wharf. In the background are a number of buildings including one railway building with a bow roofline and Foxton written in bold letters on its end. This wharf was located near the railway station on the stretch of the Manawatu River which is now (2001) known as “The Loop”.
