T. SHERLAW begs to inform the PUBLIC OF LEVIN and SURROUNDING DSISTRICT that he has taken over the business lately carried on by Mr E.W.J. Smith, where he hopes to merit a share of Public Patronage so liberally extended to Mr Smith in the past.
He will open on Thursday morning May 4th, with the largest and finest selected stock of Jewellery and Plate ever shown in the district....
The Repairing Department
Will be in full swing again from now and all Watch, Clock and Jewellery Repairs will be executed with despatch, and the quality of workmanship cannot be reached by any other watchmaker in the district.
In justice to myself and for the information of the public who don't seem to know me by repute, and more especially those connected with the trade who have been endeavouring to circulate to circulate statements witha view to damaging my reputation, I may state that the twelve years prior to my coming to Levin two years ago, I was in business in Wellington - not as a "practical" watchmaker, but as a watch expert, and during those twelve years I had customers in almost every town from Auckland to Dunedin, and in many instances doing watch-work for them that could not have been executed elsewhere in this Dominion.
Apart from this, during the winter months I conducted classes for the benefit of the ordinary watchmaker, who was desirous of thoroughly learning the trade with a view to improving his position.
There are Goldsmiths and Silversmiths, also Blacksmiths and Tinsmiths. I belong to none of these, but public opinion says that SHERLAW is the greatest expert on Watches in the Dominion. You get the benefit of this when you have your repairs with-T. SHERLAW
