Granny Smithson aged 74 or 75 years old. The original photograph from which this copy has been taken was taken in 1935 or 1936. Granny Smithson was a nurse, midwife and doctor to many of the early settlers in Levin. She practised from the early 1890s until the 1930s. Her house was north of the Levin School site on Oxford Street (where Liquorland is today 2001).
