Written on back with black ink pen - Mrs Rigg Her daughter – M[arried] Hector McDonald Jnr Their daughter Flora – M[arried] Ranald MacDonald Their eldest daughter – Mary (baby born 22nd Sept. 1914

Written on notepaper by Mrs Mary Dorset (nee MacDonald) - This photo 1914 The young woman with child was Flora McDonald born 1886. 1st child in the Horowhenua. Her mother, next to her is Mrs Hector McDonald, eldest son of Hector McDonald 1st settler in the Horowhenua. The elderly lady wrapped in a shawl is Mrs McDonald’s mother. Her name is Rigg and the family are imports to N.Z. She would be my great grandmother. My Mother – Flora McDonald married an Australian with the name Ranald MacDonald & only changed one letter “A” in the MacDonald – hense my name is Mary MacDonald – 90 years in September.

Mrs Rigg – elderly lady seated, with cane and wearing shawl (mother of Mrs Hector McDonald Jnr). Flora MacDonald (nee McDonald) {married an Australian – Ranald MacDonald} is standing at left holding her eldest daughter – Mary (born 22nd September 1914). Mrs Mary Allan McDonald (nee Rigg) wife of Hector Hugh McDonald Jnr (married 29 April 1885) is standing at right (mother of Flora born 1886).
