John and Kate Copp
Momo rauemi:Image
- Description
Mr John and Mrs Kate Copp. The note on the card on which the photograph is mounted reads: “In 1882 Mr John Copp had a bakery about where the Home Cookery is now. It was called the Foxton Co-operative Bakery but by March 1885 it seems to be owned by M. Walls. John Copp’s wife, Kate, was a midwife. She also probably helped in the bakery shop as her husband went to the pas to bake bread for the Maoris. The Copps later moved to Wellington.”
