Water Settling Tanks, Gladstone Road
- Description
Inscription on reverse reads: “This is the settling tanks for the Borough water supply taken at the intake on Gladstone Road by me around 1919. I presume it is still in use but would be inadequate for todays requirements. Levin had at that time a water pressure that required 2 men to hold and direct a hose at a fire. I remember on one occassion the then Fire Chief Jimmie McTaggart being hit by a steam of water from the hose nozzle + rolled over by the force of water around about 180 lb to the square inch. It wouldn’t happen today. Donated Mr C Sim.”
