Left Column (top to bottom) - a) Unloading electrical equipment at Shannon Railway Station, early 1924 ? {copy} (see photo f below, slightly smaller copy) Probably a generator / dynamo about to be moved from rail wagon to stone wheeled road wagon. (see also – Acc.#s2002.088.0033 original print)

b) Transporting electrical equipment to Mangaore Powerhouse, early 1924 ? {copy} 2 steam traction engines required to pull wagon with generator / dynamo. Believed to be coming up Grey Street in Shannon.

j) Large group of men sitting on stacks of sawn timber, c.1920’s. {copy} 19 men (unidentified) Could be at sawmill on ridge between the Arapeti and Mangahao valleys, as stated on page 111 in book – “From Bush & Swamp”. (see also – Acc.#s2002.086.0016 additional copy)

k) ‘Shannon’s first power pole at the top of Margaret Street’, early 1924 ? {copy} Used in book – “From Bush & Swamp”, page 116, with caption - It was a great day in Shannon when the first power pole was erected about 1924, and the mayor and councillors were in attendance. Front row: Alfred Hyde, Edwin Butt, Bert Wilkinson, John Bovis, Mr Hudson, Bill Jamieson, Margaret Jamieson (now Cole), Wallace Jamieson. Second row: the mayor William Murdoch (hands on hips), to his right Fred Johnson.
