Levin, October 25.
The railway station was burned down at 3 o'clock this morning.
Only the luggage room was left standing.
The whole of the luggage, and cash in hand, £40, were saved.
Everything else was destroyed.
The origin of the fire is unknown; there is no apparent cause.
Trains are expected to be delayed today, pending permanent arrangements.
The fir brigade's good work is accountable for the saving of property.
