Taken on Makerua Road on the way to the Big Mill. Frank is endeavouring to get meat to his customers during the recent floods.
Information from reminiscence of Mrs Evelyn Patrick (see Acc.#20003.015.0005) - My father Frank opened his own Butchers Shop working up a good clientele. He had a great talent for his trade & became an excellent “small goods” maker. Several of his recipes, including special sausages, went with him to the grave. He had a thriving little business until the Depression in the mid 1920’s. He was well known delivering meat to his many country customers in his horse & cart – many times thro axle-high flood waters, when the notorious Manawatu River kept breaking its banks.
