German Mine, Hokio Beach, 1918

Typed on paper glued to back: “German mine washed ashore on Hokio Beach on November 14, 1918. It was found up towards the Hydrabad. I remember (F.C. Swanwick) that Constable Greggan exploded it by shooting at it with a .303 rifle. Wally Phillips said he thought several marksmen took part in the shooting.”
