Man with white beard standing beside Mrs McPherson is Jack Newton (“Hellfire Jack”, driver of first train from Wellington to Longburn) father of the bride. Elderly woman (seated at right) is Mrs Newton , mother of the bride. Man standing between the ‘Matron of Honour’ and Mrs Newton is Bill Newton (veteran of the Boer War and the Gallipoli campaign, WW I).
