Unidentified men working at a sawmill in the Horowhenua. A number of logs are ready to be processed and several buildings are in the sawmill yard. In the background the burnt-out trunks of trees mark the sky-line.

The Kereru (Koputaroa) Railway Station stands behind the sawmilling business at Kereru. A number of large logs are in this photograph which features a steam driven engine. In the background are several private homes and native bush still covers the hills behind the station and the houses.
