Hector Hugh McDonald in a canoe, possibly the Hamaria, on the Hokio Stream. Hector stands to one end of the canoe with a paddle in his hands. Behind him is the Te Maai ridge.

Mrs Hector Hugh McDonald (nee Mary Rigg), stands on a bridge across the Hokio Stream near ‘Lakeside’ (the McDonald home). With her are her two daughters, Flora (centre) and Theresa Hinemoa (left). A large dog is also standing on the bridge which has a wooden canoe alongside it.
