Dr Samuel James Thompson, MB, CHB, OBE. Taken 1970 when he was invested with an OBE. Doctor Thompson practised in Levin in1924 when he was locum tenens for Dr Gow. He bought the Gow practice in 1926 and lived in what is now Thompson House. Dr Thompson died in 1973.

Man in centre of photograph wearing a shirt, pullover, dark trousers and a brimmed hat is standing and using a spear used for eeling. The man on the right is also standing in the canoe. He is bare-headed and is wearing a long dark coat. He is holding a taiaha.
All three persons and the waka are reflected in the lake water.
