Emblem pin (medal) – “W.I. For Home And Country”, 1933-52

Made of brass metal with colour enamel. Green enamel for background to words “For Home” (top), “And Country” (bottom). Lighter green enamel for fern leaf (centre), over large metal ‘letter symbol’ (W.I.). Red enamel for flower (left) and maple leaf (right).

Made when the movement was known as the “Women’s Institute” (later renamed the “Country Women’s Institute” in 1952).

Was pinned to embroidered banner (see – #.0001).

Any use of this image must be accompanied by the credit “Horowhenua Historical Society Inc.”

Made of brass metal (in 2 parts joined by small brass ring) with colour enamel. Green enamel for background to words “Good Service” (on bar with pin), and for background to words “For Home” (top), “And Country” (bottom). Lighter green enamel for fern leaf (centre), over large ‘letter symbol’ (C.W.I.). Red enamel for flower (left) and maple leaf (right).

Made after the movement was renamed the “Country Women’s Institute” (this change occurred in 1952).

Was pinned to embroidered banner (see – #.0001).
