A girl called Emma Stern used to pull one of the ropes to get it going and we all used to fly way out sometimes nearly level with the wheel. Well, I came off and made an awful mess of my face with gravel rash (I told my Mother that I had fallen down the hill). I was very miserable. One girl Maisie Brown, broke her collar bone when she came off it and went over the fence.”
