Hector McDonald Jnr in canoe on Hokio Stream

Two photos showing Hokio Stream.

The first photo shows Hector McDonald in a canoe, possibly the Hamaria on the Hokio Stream. Taken from the Te Maai ridge looking west. Eel weir in mid picture and Hector Jnr’s home “Lakeside” in the background. Inscription reads, “cf photo taken by Miss Picken in 1977 from same position”. Also, “Looking downstream to the home of Hector McDonald Junior, canoe, eel weir and odd houses with…..(remainder unreadable)”.

The second photo is also taken from Te Maai ridge, but looking east. Inscription beneath photo, “Not this.”

Taken at Hokio Beach. Close to where I would go white baiting with my nana and grandad as a child.
