Inscription on reverse reads: “Amos Burr’s rather overgrown grave at the Karori Cemetery, Wellington, as discovered (but weeded) on 16/12/1988. Name scratched on with chalky plaster from the footpath.”

Graves, Ihakara Gardens

Graves in Ihakara Gardens. Robinson and Kebbell family graves are in the foreground, with the graves of Ihakara Tukumaru and others in background.

Colour photograph attached to white paper with the inscription:- “Ihakara Gardens at Foxton. This cemetery is the oldest known cemetery in the Manawatu and is a symbol of the racial harmony which characterised the development of the district. Ihakara Tukumaru is buried here together with early Pakeha settlers. The co-operation continues and a Queen Carnival held last year raised money for building projects at the Paranui and Motuiti Marae.”
