Written on back with blue ballpoint pen: “Donated Levin Public Library F. Duguid 1975 (Francie Pyke)”

Typed on paper glued to back: “Miss B.R. Clark’s Kindergarten school, opposite St Mary’s Church, about 1914. Standing: N. Eyes, Miss Clark. D. Hitchings, L. Hughes, N. Hitchings, E. Hughes, H. Murray. Seated: J. MacKenzie, J. Blenkhorn, F. Pyke, M. MacKenzie, L. Silk”.

Pupils and staff from Miss Clark’s Kindergarten School pose with a tabby cat c.1914. Of the 10 pupils 7 are girls and three are boys. The two staff members are Miss B R Clark who stands at the rear on the left, and Miss H Murray whon stands at the rear on the right. In the background is St Mary’s Anglican Church.

Written in back with black ink pen: “Very best wishes of health, wealth & prosperity from Mr & Mrs Fosella” and “[to] Mrs Bowen, c/o Mr Hudson, Levin”

Stamped on back with blue ink – Horowhenua Historical Society….....

Pupils outside the main building of Levin School in Oxford Street post 1903. The wooden building with an iron roof and five brick chimneys faces east, and although a flagpole has been erected at the front of the school, the playground is unsealed with large rocks clearly visable.
