Christmas Tree at the library

Each year, the Friends of Horowhenua Libraries coordinate a gift collection project for the children of the District. Various agencies, like Barnados & Birthright, supply lists of children of who would appreciate a Christmas gift.

We have a basket of gift tags sitting by a tree, with gender and age details. Simply call into Shannon, Foxton or Levin Library, select a tag, then purchase a gift for that child and return it to the Christmas Tree - with the tag attached. The Friends will distribute the gifts in time to give the children a lovely surprise on Christmas Day.

Some workplaces prefer to have a collection and donate cash which is used to purchase gifts for the tags which no-one has selected. All gifts are distributed within Horowhenua, given first to the children in the area in which they were collected.
